Hi, I collected something a few years ago in Bormujos (Sevilla), Spain, that I'm thinking is Silene scabriflora Brot. In search the Internet looking for photos of Silene in Spain, *many* of them, including yours, show a Silene scabrifolia, i.e., scabrous-leaved rather than scabrous-flowered. So far, though, I am unable to find an author, or a record for S. scabrifolia, say, at Kew, Flora Europaea, etc. So my question is, how sure are you about your name of S. scabrifolia? Is there something I've missed? Tom, http://www.schweich.com
Dear Tom, I am not 100% sure I am correct and cannot remember where I identified it. There are approx 30 species of Silene here and it is very difficult. I could have put it on a forum. Try floraiberica http://www.floravascular.com/index.php Brenda

ReplyDeleteIt´s not Silene scabriflora, but S. colorata. Check Biodiversidad Virtual webpage, there are many experts in plants that identify them.
